While the class was celebrating Columbia graduation, Bree and I were having our own celebration. We welcomed out daughter Aria Shea into the world Thursday at 4:09AM. She weighed in at 6lbs 13 oz's and is 19 inches long. She is a very happy and attentive baby, and she and her mother are doing well. And yes, having a baby is definitely the highlight for me so far. Hope everyone is doing well -- here's a little snapshot of the little one on her birthday (and her tired parents).

ok, in the spirit of being inspired by people you admire i have two of our classmates to thank.

firstly, i am following the coat-tail of "the Deaner" into Barclays Global Investors but in an operations capacity. Jeff was very helpful in helping me prep. Now he is stuck with me as a colleague! I start with BGI end of this month, and am excited about the opportunity. Goodbye GE.

My second role model is Jamie Cheng. It all started when I saw the ultrasound picture he had posted on the bcmba site. It looked so cute that I left my office with rejuvenated enthusiasm and yada yada yada, Priya is 14 weeks pregnant now. We are expecting the baby in August. (ok, even Ed can fugure out that the math does not work here, considering Jamie posted his ultrasound the end of December, but you get the point...)

Krystal and I are pleased to report that our daughter, Maia Silva Tuttle, was born at home on Tuesday December 13th at 11:55am. She measured 22 inches long, weighed a whopping 9 lbs 7 oz, and was delivered in a water birth exactly as planned. Maia’s entrance into the world was assisted by two midwives, a doula, and the strong partnership of her parents. It was an incredible experience.

Attached are three pictures taken just after she was born. Two are pretty self explanatory, but the one where she is being weighed with a fish scale deserves a special mention if you’ve ever wondered how they weigh the baby after a home birth.
